Very good series

Overall this was a very good series. It was very well acted and the investigations were quite interesting. The only thing that gave me pause was the choices the main character made in her personal life. They seemed polar opposite of what someone who had achieved so much in their career would make, partially because the choices had impact on her career. It was a bit unbelievable and took away from my experience in watching the series for me.

All seasons are good, except the last one. This series should have ended with the 4th season. The 5th is poorly plotted and all the mysteries are easily solved and too far-fetched. If you skip Season Five, you will be entertained. Amanda Burton does a great job as the Commander, and the rest of the cast is good, too.

WOW! Amazing!

I had never purchased a Jillian Michaels DVD before b/c of the hit or miss reviews. So when I heard raves about this one, I decided to give it a shot and I am so glad I did. This is an absolute butt-kicker workout. I am an intermediate/advanced exerciser (I work out 5-6 days a week) so I figured I could see what Level 1 was all about and move onto Level 2 right away. Listen to me folks–these workouts are HARD. Level 2 was VERY difficult–a good difficult though, very challenging. When Jillian tells you to start at level 1, listen to her she knows what she’s doing. I’ve been at this for about 5 days, and I already feel a difference in my body.Jillian is tough–absolutely NO rest in this workout (not even for a sip of water) but that’s what makes it go by so quickly, and it makes your body change, according to Jillian. You’re done before you know it–but by the end you’ve gotten a kick butt workout and feel like you’ve really done something. She bases her workout on the 3-2-1 method: 3 mins strength, 2 mins cardio, 1 min abs. Her strength circuits remind me of Jari Love–compound exercises that work the upper and lower body simultaneously. The cardio is good as well: a lot of jumping, so watch those knees (she has a modifier for beginner and lower impact) And the abs is straight up ab work–a variety of crunches and twists on the floor.This is a great workout and I find Jillian to be tough but she’s pretty likeable. Be warned though: she’s no-nonsense. I think it’s funny when during the stretch she admits she’s not flexible and struggles to reach her legs on the floor. I thought “Ha, Ha, finally something I’m better at than Jillian!” lolIf you really want to get a good workout and to jumpstart your weight loss get this DVD you will not be disappointed. It’s great for those who are short on time too and want to try something new; every workout is just under 30 mins!

I wish there were more workouts in this DVD

First off, I would give it 3 ½ stars. I’ve only done level one but it is a good, very intense work out. I felt great afterwards. Also, I really like the trainer. She motivated me to push my hardest to try and finish each exercise, which sometimes I couldn’t do (and I consider myself to be in good shape). My biggest complaint about the DVD is that you are told to start with level 1 and then progress up to level 2, then level 3. But there is only one level 1 workout, one level 2 workout and one level 3 workout. As a result, you are doing the same workout every day until you can move up a level. This can get boring. In addition, you are working the same tired and sore muscles that you worked the day before. My other complaints are a bit petty: the music is terrible and you can’t skip through some of the beginning stuff. As stated above, the workouts are great and extremely challenging but I wouldn’t use this DVD alone.**********************************************************UPDATE:I would now give this video 5 stars. One of the comments to my review suggested that I don’t wait to move up in levels, rather, I could do each level so that I am not doing the same workout again and again. THANK YOU to that person. I am now switching around levels and I love it. Level 2 and 3 are harder but I follow the “easier” version of most of the exercises and make modifications to some of the aerobic exercises that may be too hard (or that I just may not like). This is now my favorite DVD. I love it because it is hard enough to actually replace the gym… and in only 25 min.

Ok, if you’re like me (overweight and unmotivated) and watch The Biggest Loser and wish you could be one of the contestants and have Jillian train you then you’re in luck! Buy this DVD! I just received the dvd today and did the First Level today. It’s been 2 and 1/2 hours since I finished and I’m still shaking and finding it hard to go up and down stairs. I can’t even imagine what she puts those poor contestants through..LOL!I have knee pains and feet pains and usually just walk at 3mph on my treadmill. Well, suffice to say I’m not seeing any weight loss. And let me be honest the real reason I have knee and feet problems is because I weigh too much. So I did the full on jumping jacks..no modified jumping jacks in this workout…Jillian tells you straight, she has 400lb people doing full jumping jacks, you can too! And she was right. I sure as heck can’t really do the push ups but I’m sure that I will be able to eventually if I keep doing this dvd everyday for 20 minutes.And she’s right, you can’t do a workout for 20 minutes and expect it to be easy…you want easy, don’t get this dvd. You want to sweat and really workout get this dvd!I’m 5’4” and 168 lbs. I will let you know my progress in my comments as time goes on. Good luck to everyone!

One of the great things about movies is that every once in awhile the unexpected happens, something comes along that you know immediately is just a bit different and special somehow. Usually it’s the film itself, but on occasion– and this is one of them– a character will emerge who is not just a character in a movie, but IS the movie. Here, it’s the title character of “Crocodile Dundee,” directed by Peter Faiman, and starring Paul Hogan as the inimitable Mick Dundee, a rather unique individual hailing from the small hamlet of Walkabout Creek, Australia. Mick hit the big screen in 1986, and from the first moment he appeared, right up through the end of the second sequel, it’s been a “G’day” for audiences around the world.
In Australia on assignment for her New York newspaper, journalist Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski) runs across a story she just has to pursue. It’s about a legendary “local” from one of the small towns on the cusp of the bush, a crocodile hunter who, the story goes, had his leg bitten off by a croc, then managed to survive by crawling, alone, for days on end across the outback. So it’s off to the town of Walkabout Creek in search of this larger-than-life character, who it turns out is quite a “character” to say the least. He is, in fact, one of a kind.
After a memorable meeting in the town’s only pub (one of about four buildings in the whole place), Michael J. “Mick” Dundee agrees to take her on a tour retracing his steps and reconstructing the famous event where it actually took place. He promises a hard journey through some rugged terrain– no place, in fact, for a “Sheila”– but, like any good reporter, she’s ready for anything; or so she thinks. And it’s the beginning of an adventure she, as well as the audience, will never forget.
Hogan concocted the story and created the character, then wrote the screenplay along with John Cornell and Ken Shadie, after which he turned it over to director Faiman, who did a worthy, if not exceptional, job of translating Hogan’s vision to the screen. Faiman, however, is destined to be the forgotten man with regards to this project, inasmuch as he was not only necessarily overshadowed by writer/star Hogan, but he presented the film in a fairly straightforward manner, without anything particularly noteworthy that “he” did that would put his “signature” on it. Add to that the fact that this was the first of only two films Faiman ever directed (his second was the lackluster “Dutch” in 1991); simply not enough to reference him, nothing added to his resume afterwards to make you take notice and say, “Oh, yes, he directed `Dundee,’ too.” Still, filmmaking is inherently a collaborative medium, and as they say, a film does not “direct” itself; so credit must be given where it is due, and considering how good this film is, and how well it did at the box office, it points up that whatever Faiman did, he did right. And he deserves to be acknowledged for it.
It’s no secret, of course, what really makes this film work. Aside from the engaging story with it’s romantic notions of adventure, from beginning to end it has the four “Big Cs” going for it: Character, Charisma, Chemistry and Charm. Let’s face it, Paul Hogan is “The Man” as Mick Dundee; he’s the guy other guys admire and want to be (whether or not they’ll admit to it), and he has the kind of natural good looks, charisma and charm that is irresistible to the ladies (whether or not they’ll admit to it). And the chemistry between Hogan and Kozlowski is irrefutable; it’s the kind that makes you want to put another shrimp on the barbie. Besides all of which there is an innate honesty about Hogan’s Mick that shines through like a 1st order Fresnel light in a London fog. He’s laid-back and grounded, with a refreshingly logical outlook on life– this guy’s never going to need a pill for hypertension– and what adds even more to his appeal is that there’s a touch of larceny in his make-up, hiding just beneath that twinkle in his eye and his obvious integrity. You also know instinctively that this is the guy you want in your corner when the chips are down. All of this and more is what Paul Hogan captures in his performance; this is the Mick “Crocodile” Dundee he brings to the screen.
In her motion picture debut, the lovely Linda Kozlowski brings some sizzle to the screen and proves to be the perfect counterpoint to co-star Hogan. Something of an “Ibsenesque” role model, she demonstrates that a woman can be strong and ultra feminine, capable yet vulnerable, and all at the same time. It makes her portrayal of Sue Charlton convincing, well rounded and real; much more than just a cardboard cutout kind of a character that could have been used as nothing more than a vehicle to move the story along. Instead, though this is without question Mick Dundee’s story, she makes it her story, too, and it gives the film an added perspective and considerably more depth than what is usually found in light comedy, which is essentially what this film is. And there’s a look in her eye and something in the way she smiles at Mick that has an absolute ring of truth to it. You could say, in fact, that Hogan and Kozlowski are the Bogie and Bacall of the outback.
Another invaluable asset to the film is the performance of the likable John Meillon as Mick’s friend, Walter Reilly. The part is a true character actor’s character, and Meillon does it beautifully. The supporting cast includes Mark Blum (Richard), Michael Lombard (Sam), Steve Rackman (Donk) and Reginald VelJohnson (Gus). A memorable film filled with unforgettable characters, “Crocodile Dundee” will take you to the top o’the world… “down under.”

‘Crocodile Dundee’ is a highly entertaining comedy romance released in ’86 that implanted such delightful Aussie terms as; “G’day” and “out for a walkabout” into Amercian mainstream consciousness.Paul Hogan is absolutely perfect as the man from down under, Michael J. ‘Crocodile’ Dundee who is pursued by an American reporter (Linda Kozlowski) in search of a good newspaper story about the elusive crocodile hunter roaming the Australian Outback. When their brief but intense encounter blossoms into romance she invites Mic to return to New York with her and see the sights. Can a naive Aussie fresh from the bush cope with the perils that accompany life in the Big Apple? You Bet!!Great family fun with good performances by Hogan and Kozlowski as well as John Meillon as Mic’s Outback partner, Walter and a brief but memorable cameo by David Gulpilil.

Paul Hogan (Lightening Jack, Flipper) stars as Michael J. “Crocodile” Dundee, a crocodile hunter. Wealthy reporter Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski, Favorite Son, Almost and Angel) meets him during an excursion into the Australian Outback.
Dundee accepts Sue’s invitation to return to New York City with her. He soon finds that New York life is much different than the life he is used to. Not only must he learn to acclimatize himself with the new surroundings and deal with the jealous boyfriend of Sue Charlton. There are so many excellent ‘fish out of water’ scenes from this film; too many to list in one review.
This movie is very charming in its simplicity. It isn’t full of confusing and complicated twists and turns at every angle, doesn’t have several different subplots to keep up with and isn’t full of murky characters that really have no purpose other than to take up a frame. It is a simple romantic comedy that is very much worth the time spent viewing it.

weirdest yoga video ever

This is an advanced yoga work out. You need to be an expert with poses and flexible like gumby to get through it. There are no explanations on how to do the poses just a weird video with chimes telling you when to change poses. I only picked it because it was free. I will not be rewatching this one.

One of the greatest television comedies in history, Cheers is an absolute “must see” for anyone who’s ever had a regular hangout “where everybody knows your name”. The shows centers itself around the friendly neighborhood Boston bar named Cheers. The bar is owned by former Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Sam Malone (Ted Danson). Sam has three employees – bartender Ernie “Coach” Pantusso (Nicholas Colasanto) and waitresses Carla Tortelli (Rhea Pearlman) and Diane Chambers (Shelley Long). Season 3 witnesses the edition of popular cast member Kelsey Grammar as Dr. Frasier Crane (who would later spawn his own series spin-off, Frasier). Notably, Dr. Crane’s stint on Cheers was originally intended to last for only a few episodes until his character became a regular cast member (similar to John Ratzenberger’s ascent on the show). Michael Richards (Kramer from the hit show Seinfeld) makes a notable guest appearance in episode # 62. Following her breakup with Sam and abandonment of Cheers, Diane returns to the bar at the request of Coach who feels it will help Sam end his problem drinking. “Cheers” is the highly-rated sit-com based around characters who frequent a Boston bar of the same name, owned by Sam Malone (Ted Danson) an ex-professional baseball pitcher and recovering alcoholic.
In this, the third season, we are introduced to waitress Diane’s (Shelley Long) post-Sam new boyfriend, Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer), a snooty psychologist, who appears in a handful of episodes. Perhaps his best episode is when the guys reluctantly take him fishing, but leave him holding the bag in a snipe hunt. He turns the tables on them in the end, though. In the last episode cliff-hanger, he proposes to Diane.
We also meet Carla’s ex-husband, Nick Tortelli (Dan Hedaya), who is only a few rungs up the evolutionary ladder. He has a new blond bombshell bimbo wife “Low-Ret-ta”. He appears in a few episodes, and is possibly the funniest character of all.
The special features are so-so overall:
1. Virtual Vera, Shrink-Warped: Introducing Frasier Crane, and Carla’s Whipping Boy are just short clips of/about those characters from the episodes. Nothing new at all.2. Cheers Bar Tour – in this, Dahl Delu talks about some of the items found around the bar, such as the Indian statue, the piano, etc. It becomes filler at the end, however, when clicking on the soda-fizzer, cash-register and ice-box only results in sound effects. Worst of all, clicking on the juke-box results in hearing the theme song for the 26th time.3. Nice piece on Nicholas Colasanto (“Coach”) who died shortly after the season ended.
This is probably the best season so far.

Another delightful addition to your collection, the complete 3rd season of “Cheers.” As with previous installments, the features are a little skimpy; “Virtual Vera,” “Shrink-Wrapped: Introducing Frasier Crane” and “Carla’s Whipping Boy” are themed groups of clips from the third season itself…thanks, but I’ll just catch the amusing moments in the actual episodes. Why not some commentary from the actors on these subjects, instead? Or how about a look at the actual Vera, portrayed via voice by George Wendt’s real-life wife.”Cheers” the DVD gives Nicholas Colasanto as skimpy a goodbye as “Cheers” the TV series gave to Coach Ernie Pantusso (who was written out of episodes with various flimsy excuses in the second half of the 3rd season and was finally written off the show completely at the beginning of the 4th with one sentence from Diane: “I was so sorry to hear about Coach.”). In a wee little six minute segment, Ted Danson (who can’t seem to keep his facts straight — Nick died in February, not “over the summer”), Rhea Perlman and George Wendt talk about what a wonderful, sweet man Nick was and the impact he had on their lives and the show. Ted says it best when he declares that Nick was “all the sweetness in ‘Cheers.’” (On a related note, the decline of Nick’s health is evident in the show itself, as Coach loses weight and almost loses his voice, which make some of the episodes hard to watch, although Nick gave an Emmy-worthy performance until the very end.) Despite my little grumbles about the continuing lack of good extras, I still have to give this set five stars, as the quality of the show itself it just stellar. Shelley Long, the new addition of Kelsey Grammar and the rest of the cast are in top form, as always. Even after 20 years, “Cheers” remains a classic not to be missed.

“Libera me, Domine, de vitae aeterna” – “Free me, Lord, from eternal life”: If a movie begins with a choir and boy soprano singing these words, in a requiem’s style and overlaying the camera’s sweeping move over nightly San Francisco bay, zooming in on a Victorian building’s top-floor window after having followed the life on the street below like a hunter follows its prey – if a movie begins like this, you know you’re not looking at your average flick, whatever its subject. (And if the first thing you catch is the Latin phrase’s grammatical mistake, this is probably not your kind of movie to begin with).Much-discussed even before its release, due not least to Anne Rice’s temporary withdrawal of support and her no less sensational subsequent 180-degree turn, Neil Jordan’s adaptation of the “Vampire Chronicles”‘ first part, based on Rice’s own screenplay, is a sumptuous production awash in luminous colors, magnificent period decor and costumes, rich fabrics, heavy crystal, elegant silverware and gallons of deeply scarlet blood, supremely photographed by Phillippe Rousselot, with a constant undercurrent of sensuality and seduction; an audiovisual orgy substantiated by one of recent film history’s most ingenious scores (by Elliot Goldenthal). Although the book only gained notoriety after the publication of its sequel “The Vampire Lestat,” followed in short order by the “Chronicles”‘ third installment, “The Queen of the Damned,” by the time this movie was produced, Rice had acquired a large and loyal fan base, who would have been ready to tear it to shreds had it failed to meet their expectations. That this was not unanimously the case is in and of itself testimony to Neil Jordan’s considerable achievement (only underscored by the botched 2002 realization of “Queen of the Damned”). Sure, some decry the plot changes vis-a-vis the novel and the fact that some of the protagonists (particularly Louis and Armand) look different from Rice’s description. But others have embraced the movie wholeheartedly; praising it for remaining faithful to the fundamentalities of Rice’s story and for its production values as such. I find myself firmly in the latter corner; indeed, in some respects I consider this one of the rare movies that are superior to their literary originals – primarily because the story’s two main characters, Louis and Lestat, gain considerably in stature and complexity compared to Rice’s book.While both film and novel are narrated by Louis (Brad Pitt), giving an interview to a reporter (Christian Slater) in the hope of achieving some minimal atonement for 200 years of sin and guilt, and while Lestat (Tom Cruise) appears on screen barely half the movie’s running time, Lestat is much more of a central character than in Rice’s novel; and vastly more interesting. For Anne Rice’s Lestat only comes into his own in the “Chronicles”‘ second part, which is named for him and where we truly learn to appreciate him as the vampire world’s aristocratic, arrogant, wicked, intelligent and unscrupulous “brat prince,” who although completely lacking regret for any of his actions nevertheless shows occasional glimpses of caring, even if he would never admit thereto. *This*, however, is exactly the movie’s Lestat; not the comparatively uninformed and, all things considered, even somewhat brutish creature of Rice’s first novel. It is no small feat on Tom Cruise’s part to have accomplished this; and in my mind his portrayal has completely eclipsed the character’s original conception, which was reportedly based on Rutger Hauer’s Captain Navarre in “Ladyhawke.”Similarly, while every bit as guilt-ridden as the character created by Anne Rice, Brad Pitt’s Louis regains more inner strength – and more quickly so – than the narrator of Rice’s book, rendering him more of an even foil for Lestat, and equally lending greater credibility to his initial selection as Lestat’s companion, his actions to ensure his and Claudia’s escape to Europe, and his later decision not to stay with Armand. (Indeed, Louis’s and Armand’s separation after the burning of the Theatre of the Vampires makes perfect sense in the movie’s context; it would have undercut both characters’, but especially Louis’s credibility had they gone on to share years of companionship like in the book.)Kirsten Dunst’s Claudia was not only this movie’s biggest discovery – not surprisingly, in an interview included on the DVD Dunst calls this “the most prominent role” of her career so far – she, too, embodies the novel’s child vampire to absolute perfection; capturing her eternally childlike features as well as her Lolitaesque seductiveness and the ruthless killer hidden under her doll-like appearance. Doubtlessly furthest from the novel’s character is Antonio Banderas’s powerful and charismatic Armand: But while I do somewhat miss Rice’s auburn-haired “Botticelli angel,” I always had a problem imagining him as the leader of the Paris coven, in control even of the quicksilver-like Santiago (marvelously portrayed by Stephen Rea in one of his most overtly theatrical performances). Here, too, the movie – if anything – gives the story greater credibility; although it’s admittedly hard to reconcile with parts of the “Chronicles”‘ later installments, particularly Armand’s own biography.In interviews, Neil Jordan and Brad Pitt particularly have mentioned the emotional strain that this movie put on all its participants; due its almost exclusively nightly shooting schedule, and even more so because of its incessant exploration of guilt, damnation and, literally, hell on earth. Anne Rice’s vampires truly are the ultimate outsiders; no longer part of human society, they feed on it, can neither be harmed by sickness nor by methods the world has taken for granted ever since Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” (which are in fact merely “the vulgar fictions of a demented Irishman,” as Louis explains, simultaneously amused and contemptuous) and are thus, if not killed by fire and/or beheading, condemned to walk the earth forever, without any hope of redemption. It is primarily this element which has given Rice’s novels their lasting appeal, and which is perfectly rendered in Jordan’s adaptation. Let me begin by saying that I have not read the book and am judging the movie solely on its own merits. “Interview with the Vampire” is a luscious, guilty pleasure of modern filmmaking, visually resplendent and with wonderful performances by all (including Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas and Stephen Rea). It follows the adventures of Louis de Pont du Lac (Brad Pitt), a 200-year-old vampire hailing from Louisiana, as he recounts the story of his life (and unlife) to interviewer Daniel Malloy (Christian Slater). Along the way we meet his maker Lestat de Lioncourt (Tom Cruise), his “daughter” Claudia (Kirsten Dunst), and Armand (Antonio Banderas), leader of the Parisian vampires.
Tom Cruise, in my mind, perfectly portrays the elder vampire Lestat…beautiful, cunning, selfish, a seducer, many of the same qualities present in Armand, and possesses an excess of dark humour. Brad Pitt’s Louis still clings to the last shreds of his humanity…his sense of right and wrong, the value of life, the horror of killing in order to survive (angstmaster Nick Knight from “Forever Knight” springs to mind). There is a lack of onscreen romantic tension between Cruise and Pitt…something that makes their relationship seem less immediate and binding. However, there is definitely a spark between Louis and Armand (Antonio Banderas), and it was easy to believe that Louis was tempted to stay as a companion to such an intelligent, beautiful vampire who could teach him the answers to his questions. Kirsten Dunst is phenomenal as Claudia, the vampire with the mind and desires of a woman eternally trapped in the body of a doll-child.
The visuals are lavish, moody, stunningly brilliant, especially the world of 1800′s New Orleans with its brocades, silks, and elaborate dresses. The atmosphere is appropriately dark, with plenty of fog and menacing nighttime damp. Elliot Goldenthal’s score is string-driven, pulsing, tense, and underscores the action perfectly, the crowning piece being “Libera Me”.
Yes, this film is graphic at times, including two very graphic scenes involving mutilation, numerous “feedings,” homoeroticism, and brief nudity, but “Interview with the Vampire” is an unconventional drama that probes the meaning of life, death, love, seduction, and regret. More than anything Anne Rice’s vampires make us realize the conventions and trappings of humanity.

No other Vampire film, other than Gary Oldman’s Oscar worthy performance in “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” delves as deep in a character study of Vampires & how it would be like to be a Vampire from their point of view.A broad 200 year perspective of the life of Brad Pitts Vampire character, “Louie,” the reluctant Vampire who finally succumbs to his fate of feeding on human blood, & in his quest for enlightenment of what he is, he finds out, if anything, he is a Vampire.The story of a surprisingly great performance of Tom Cruise’s, “Lestat,” who sees “the dark gift” as everything he could ever want, except companionship, what he wants the most, & realizes the least. Cruise steals the show in his glee for sucking the blood out of the living, & his indignation for turning “Louie” in to a Vampire that still has respect for human life, in a barrage of cold blooded murders, & ranting at “Louie” with black comedic hilarity, yet shocking indifference to life, to the point of sadomasochism . Also, a very young Kristen Dunst’s, “Claudia”, who also steals the show & matches Lestat bite for bite in the quest for blood, & the sport it brings. A hugely great & complicated performance for such a young girl!”Interview with the Vampire” is a thinking man’s horror film, one that reaches down deep, not just to bring you cheap scares & shallow predictable characters, but a rich tapestry of what it means to be a Vampire, & all the consequences that goes with it.

I think of season 4 as the one where Dawson’s Creek began to transform itself into Joey’s Creek.The very first scene already hints at this switch by showing Joey and Pacey returning from their boat trip after escaping a broken-hearted Dawson and inquiring friends. The trend of having Joey in the opening scenes of new seasons would continue for seasons 5 and 6. Season 6 even more blatantly so by having her do a voice-over. It was not a bad change, but I would have appreciated a memo.Most of this season focuses on how Dawson, Joey, and Pacey could ever go back to being friends. Dawson must somehow accept that both of his best friends are now an item. Dawson and Pacey are proud, they won’t admit they’re wrong, and Joey is caught between her boyfriend and her best friend. It’s a great conflict that in real life could have destroyed a friendship for good. But there’s a reason why the audience roots for Dawson and Pacey to be friends again and that’s because we know they have shared too much and still care for each other. We know they are both good boys!Of course, Joey’s relationship with Pacey is serious and commited. She helps him with school, with his family on his birthday, and even later, trying to get him into college. In return, Pacey also makes sure she studies, helps her babysit, makes sure she doesn’t get too drunk at parties and, even though he has mixed feelings about it, he does want her to succeed by getting into a good college even if it means he’ll have to stay behind. They make one of the best TV couples ever, and you get to wonder if Dawson would have been as good a boyfriend as Pacey was.But Dawson meanwhile has his own life to worry about, although his life is far less interesting. He falls for an older girl who happens to be Pacey’s sister. It’s a relationship that, in true Dawson-form, takes forever to develop with unfortunate results. He also gets stuck with Mr. Brooks, the mentor from hell. The old man is annoying but he helps Dawson go back to his dreams of being a filmmaker.Here’s where you know Dawson’s life is getting too serious for a kid. In the episode “A Winter’s Tale,” (one of my personal fav) his entire class is living it up on their senior trip, not to mention Pacey and Joey, and he’s stuck in Capeside in a hospital with a bedridden Mr. Brooks. It’s like punishing Dawson for being too good. And the worst part is, the audience is far more interested in what’s going on in Pacey’s and Joey’s lodge than seeing Dawson praying along Jen’s grandma. Dawson is officially made boring.Jack and Jen provide with excellent side stories. Andie’s early departure was not so welcomed, but at least she made a great after school special about drugs and rave parties before leaving.I’m being sarcastic but this was a really great, entertaining season. My only beef was the “Promicide” episode because it was atypical for Pacey to act so jealous and cause such a scene. If Joey can forgive that, then we can forgive him too. Overall it’s the best season of Dawson’s Creek.

Dawson’s Creek was not a show that I watched during it’s regular network airing. Friends of mine recommended that I check it out, but it was never something that interested me. Then one evening while watching another show on The WB, I saw a commercial for the reairing of the very first episode of the show, prior to the final episodes as the series wound down. I watched the reairing of the Pilot and from that moment on was hooked on the lives of Dawson, Joey, Pacey and Jen.The fourth season of Dawson’s Creek is mostly about the relationship between Pacey and Joey and the problems and issues it causes among their friends. While Dawson and Joey have long considered themselves soul mates, they spend much of this season questioning that as Joey explores her relationship with Dawson’s former best friend Pacey.This season was also the final season for the group in Capeside, Mass. The kids graduate high school and move on to other things. In some cases, college is the answer, but not for all. The goodbyes to Capeside provided a solid emotional end to the season as the lifelong friends prepared for life beyond their sleepy Cape Cod town.Katie Holmes, as tomboy turned beauty Joey Potter is perhaps the star of this season. Her relationship with Pacey and her attempts at keeping her friendship with Dawson alive completely turn her in many different directions, often unsure of where she is going or why she is going where she’s going.Joshua Jackson as Pacey gives a great performance, once again, giving good reason for the producers and writers to have him end up with Joey in the series finale. While their relationship ends before the end of the season, you always know how happy she makes him, yet he himself never really feels like he deserves someone liker her. In his mind, she is too good for him and that eventually breaks their relationship apart, in fine fashion at the prom I might add.Michelle Williams as Jen didn’t have as big of a role in this season, simply because she wasn’t in the love triangle that blossomed at the end of season three. She did, however, have some great moments of her own, most memorably her trip to New York to see her father. In that episode we find out so much about her character and what has happened to her in her life. It allows the viewers to appreciate just how lucky she is to have Grams. Speaking of Grams, Mary Beth Piel is phenomenal in the role, serving as a role model for Jen, guiding her along life’s paths in the best way she possibly can.Kerr Smith is also solid as Jack, the gay football star, although in this season the football is downplayed thanks to an injury. Jack does get to explore his first real serious gay relationship, with Toby, and also spends a lot of time helping Jen through many of her issues.James Van Der Beek leads the cast as Dawson, a young man torn between his love for films and his love for Joey, the girl that got away. Everyone knows that he is bound to head to California to pursue his movie career, but at the same time, people are rooting for him to go to Boston to be with Joey. In this season, something important happens to Dawson though, as he falls in love with someone else, a huge step in getting over Joey. His relationship with Gretchen is a nice divergence, yet something viewers know will never work out.This show thrives on the ability to find different stories for each of the young stars. Sadly in this season we see the departure of Andie, played wonderfully by Meredith Monroe. Her character just wasn’t left enough room to develop and midway through the season the decision was made for her to move to Italy. She reappears in the graduation episode and again in the series finale, but it is sad to see her go. She was a good part of the group.A new baby in the family changes Dawson’s life, while college applications weigh heavily on everyone’s mind. This is the beginning of the end of Dawson’s Creek, as once the group left Capeside it became hard to follow them all in the different directions their lives were going. While the show lasted two more seasons, this was the last Capeside season of Dawson’s Creek.The one drawback to this show, as was the case in the third season, is the replacement of the theme song. While the new song isn’t necessarily bad, it isn’t the song that belongs there and any fan knows that. Money issues rear their ugly head again.All in all though, this is a great set of a show that helped to define the genre of teen soaps for many years and is highly recommended, as are the first three seasons.

I have to say that this season is the best out of the whole series. Katie Holmes and Josh Jackson captured an on-screen emotion that seemed so much more like love than anything I’ve seen on TV or in a movie before. In fact, I have to say that their relationship is the reason I’m a hopeless romantic. I know that the end of the season isn’t the way that I would want it to be…but we know how the series turns out, so I’m not too sad. Plus, once this DVD is released there’s only 2 more until we have the complete series on DVD. That’ll be the longest marathon ever…

“Everyone’s Hero” is a wonderful tale about a young boy whose father is fired from his job at Yankee Stadium when Babe Ruth’s bat is stolen on his watch. The boy knows who stole the bat and sets out to reclaim it for the Babe and to save his father’s much needed job. The young boy, Yankee Irving, is a huge dreamer, who hopes to one day play for the Yankees. He picks up quite a friend in Screwie (Rob Reiner), a Major League foul ball who hesitantly agrees to help Yankee recover the bat as long as the boy promises to leave him to rot in the sandlot where Yankee found him.Yankee meets quite a motley crew on his travels from New York to Chicago. He runs into some kind-hearted hobos, a young girl named Marti (Raven), who gets him in touch with her father, Rooster Brewster of the Negro League, who’s team just happens to be headed to Chicago. He also runs into the villainous Lefty Maginnis (William H. Macy), a washed out pitcher who thinks that by stealing Babe’s bat, Darlin’, he can save his job with the Chicago Cubs and win the World Series.The story moves at a wonderful pace and holds the attention of both children and adults. My daughter went crazy when Screwie and Darlin’ went at each other, and the antics of Lefty had everyone laughing. It features an all-star cast including those aforementioned and Robert Wagner, Whoopi Goldberg, Mandy Patinkin, and Brian Dennehy as Babe Ruth. Joe Torre plays the manager of the Yanks and Dana Reeve plays Yankee’s mom. Of course, Reeve and her husband, Christopher Reeve (who initially directed this film), both passed away before seeing this film come to life on the screen. They should both be proud of their work done on this film.If you love baseball, strong family bonds, slapstick comedy, or nostalgia, I highly recommend you see this film. Rest assured that you don’t have to be a sports fan to enjoy this film, but for those of us who do, it’s nice to see not only the Babe get some screen time, but Lou Gehrig as well.A highly recommend, future classic, family film.

EVERYONE’S HERO is a charming, heartwarming, and delightful animated film about a young boy who loves baseball and leaves home to help his hero, Babe Ruth, and save his dad’s job. The film includes an impressive cast of talented voice actors: Brian Dennehy, Whoopi Goldberg, Jake Austin, William H. Macy, Richard Kind, Mandy Patinkin, Rob Reiner, Raven-Symone, Robert Wagner, and even Joe Torre as the Yankee’s Manager.The year is 1932. “Yankee” Irving (Jake Austin) is a ten-year-old boy who lives in New York and loves baseball, but no matter how hard he tries he always ends up striking out and falling down. Yankee becomes frustrated and almost gives up until he finds a talking baseball (Rob Reiner). He names the ball Screwie and Screwie becomes Yankee’s companion and, on a different level, a part of his conscious. Yankee’s dad works at Yankee Stadium. The Yankee’s are beating the Chicago Cubs in the World Series and the Cubs’ owner (Robert Wagner) hatches a plan to have his dirtiest player, Lefty Maginnis (William H. Macy), steal Babe Ruth’s bat, Darlin’ (Whoopi Goldberg). Lefty runs into Yankee before he steals Darlin’. When Yankee’s father is fired because of the missing bat, Yankee realizes what has happened and sets out to get Darlin’ back and return her to the Babe. The journey takes Yankee from NewYork to Chicago. Along the way he meets some friendly hobos (actually most hobos in that period were friendly) and has an encounter with some baseball players in the Negro Leagues.The movie vividly recreates the images of the early 1930s and the colorful palette is quite pleasing. At the film’s heart is a message of determination and perseverance, even when the odds are stacked against a person. Tied to that message is an affection and love for baseball as well as a nod to the injustice of poverty and racism.There are some inaccuracies with the historical basis of the film. For instance, the Yankees did play the Cubs in the 1932 World Series, but the series only lasted four games, not seven. Yet, where the film veers from history for dramatic effect, it makes up for it in other areas, such as the details in the uniforms of the Cincinnati Tigers’ Negro League team. Some might be confused by the lack of specific style in EVERYONE’S HERO: at times the film looks like a sophisticated piece of animation that is almost Pixar-worthy, while there are other times the film veers into antics similar to the hijinxes of the Road Runner, Wylie Coyote, Bugs Bunny, and other Warner Brother characters. Personally, I enjoyed this uneven-style because it grounded the film in reality, while reminding viewers it’s just a cartoon.I thoroughly enjoyed EVERYONE’S HERO. It’s a great animated baseball picture with important and strong messages about determination and the importance of family. The film brings recognition to forgotten elements of American history, e.g. the Negro Leagues and hobos. It’s a film full of promise and hope. It is also the last project Christopher Reeve worked on before his death and for film buffs the movie is worth watching for that fact alone. But like many of the films Reeve made, EVERYONE’S HERO appeals to a much broader audience, not just children and baseball fans. It’s a movie that calls out to the hero in everyone.

This animated feature is far different than the ones I’m use to seeing. However, it surpasses the realism of many of the others with a powerful message of perservance and making your dreams happen. This movie made me laugh, then I cried; then I laughed again just to cry even more later. It’s produced and directed by a man who valued himself the meaning of trying and trying again. In a collaboration with his wife Dana and other respected innovators, this was the last movie Christopher Reeve worked on before his death. There is a tribute to him as a bonus feature on this disc.Like the ever popular first Ice Age movies and both Garfield films, the movie buyer has the option to both full and widescreen modes. However, I’m not happy with the double-sided release the studio decided to do. It’s quiet annoying and even anxiety-ridden as you try extra hard when flipping the disc not to drop or scratch it. One side’s bad enough, but double-sided is just not pleasing.

This is a really good tool to present teens with to see what happens when you get pregnant early on. In all of the various female sitcom the young ladies are all thinking they can change the boy; the boys except one or two of them had to be coaxed into taking care of the baby. In most all of the videos the young lady had to get up during the night and the boy is sleeping with the pillows over his face. I watched these videos for the sociological perspective wanting to see if these was one decent boy who would take care of his baby, who would be there at the birth, and who would be responsible financially. Most times it was one of the parents who paid for everything. This just proved that young girls would become responsible for the baby and the male teen was a loser!

It’s really good as a young adult to watch this and learn why you should he carefulwl with your life and the choices you make. I especially think that young girls AND boys should watch and learn that life could come to a crashing stop for fun and games. I personally love this T.V. series.

This is a great show and I truely enjoyed it .it made me stop and admire how hard some of these teen moms work to keep their babies and get their education—- Its sad to see that most of the dads carry little responsibility.I would like to see more of this type of shows

All the negative reviews I’ve been reading have left me puzzled. Is there some reason why all movies with famous actors should be hard-core and filled with violence and profanity?? This movie is a FAMILY film. The kids will love it, Mom and Dad will love it, too. I applaud Vin Diesel and the other performers for doing a top-notch Disney film for the FAMILY! Disney films are classically just that….films for the family. Mom, Dad, the kids, even Grandma and Grandpa (and any other number of relatives) can watch this movie together and all have a great time doing so. There was a time when this type of film was the norm, not the exception. What has happened in this country? This film is great and should be seen by all and bought for future enjoyment when made available on DVD and VHS.

Vin Diesel had a choice when “Pacifier” was offered to him. He could star in this low-budget release or return for “XXX State of the Union.” Mr. Diesel opted to do “Pacifier” because he’d have the opportunity to make a film that his children could watch and enjoy with him–unlike his previous releases which he considered too violent.Surprise, “Pacifier” isn’t just for kids. While there is a “family feel” to the film, there’s enough action and suspense to keep the adults on the edge of their seats. Besides, the whole film is surprisingly funny as well.Vin Diesel stars as a Special Ops soldier who lost a famous scientist on a mission. When he’s assigned to guard the scientists’ children while their mother is away, Diesel is triply determined to make sure the kids are safe. The children pose their own problems: the son dresses as a Nazi (turns out he’s secretly gotten a part in “Sound of Music”), the daughter is having problems learning to drive, the baby just really doesn’t know what’s happening. Everyone’s traumatized by the loss of their father–and having such a rough-and-ready guardian is hard on all of them. But, they band together when the family’s at risk.Overall, an excellent film with a lot of good messages for children. Plus, a lot of laughs. Kudos to Vin Diesel. This little-known film actually shows a lot of depth in his ability to act that we have not seen before.

If I had children between 5-12, I’d suggest they see this. It is “Kindergarten Cop,” “Uncle Buck,” and “Mr. Mom,” with a light “Mrs. Doubtfire” thrown in. It is not as good as any of those, but I am not 10 years old. Your young boy or girl will love it.It is a mix of slapstick, family style humor and situation gags. Nothing in the story will surprise moviegoers, but nothing will offend them either. It is a fun, decent, average 1960s-style Disney film.The plot:Shane Wolfe (Vin Diesel), Navy Seal, is assigned to protect the family of a slain scientist. Their home may have a special device the enemy wants. The mother is out of town trying to open a safe deposit box, and Shane’s stay last longer than expected.Shane, muscle-bound and bald, looks intimidating. He’s tough, a “leave no man behind” kind of guy. All man. As a protector/babysitter, he runs aground into all of the expected gags. He changes a diaper with typical disgust, drives the kids to school, and feeds them dried MREs (Meals Ready To Eat). Parenting is new, and he starts learning.He catches a boyfriend sneaking in, and has run-ins with the wresting coach, played by huge Brad Garrett. Some minor subplots about relating to the children bring a few laughs and “awes.”It isn’t really an action movie, not beyond a few “Home Alone” scenes.Vin Diesel shows he can act here, and occasionally shines in a few sequences. When he finds the code in the “Peter Panda Dance,” we see an indication that there’s hope for him in a better movie that relies on his personality more than his biceps.Critically, from an adult perspective, Brad Garrett was not believable as a wrestling coach, and Lauren Graham as the military women-turned-principal did not work. It was as much of a casting problem as it was a writing and directing issue.Brittany Snow as oldest daughter Zoe Plummer is great. She plays the character honestly, and within her ability. There a Hillary Duff aspect to her, with an edge. Unfortunately, Faith Ford as her mom, Julie Plummer overplayed her. Luckily, we only suffer with her in a few scenes.Oldest son, Seth Plummer, is likewise overplayed by Max Thieriot, who seems like he was handed the roll for growing up in Hollywood. His conversion from weak trench coat outsider, to thespian acting in “Sound of Music,” was more than a stretch.The nanny, Helga, played by Carol Kane, is given terrible lines. Remembering her in “The Princess Bride,” I shuddered as she tried to squeeze out comedy.The movie is disposable, and will not rank among Disney’s best movies. However, it shows that Disney is willing to toss a few dollars into a movie that is clean, with a message that is pro-family, pro-parents, pro-father, and old fashioned fun.Anthony Trendleditor, HungarianBookstore.com
