Worth every penny.

*This does contain some minor spoilers. I tried not to spoil too much.*Batman: Gotham Knight is advertised as the missing link between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. There are six stories in total. Each story is by different artists, but they all link together and flow together nicely.The first story is called, “Have I got a story for you,” and involves a boy waiting for his friends to arrive. Once they do, each one of them tells a story about what they saw today and they all saw Batman. Each story is farfetched in its own way as this story capitalizes on teenagers stretching the truth and/or having overactive imaginations. It seems their day isn’t finished though as the fight they all witnessed makes its way to that very skate park.”Crossfire” is the story of Chris and Anna being apart of Lieutenant Gordon’s MCU (Major Crime Unit). Chris thinks Batman is a vigilante that takes the law into his own hands while Anna is still unsure about him and is just thankful that good cops that know how to do their job are actually being respected now that Batman has shown up. After taking a recent Arkham escapee back to the asylum, they soon realize they’re stuck in the middle of a gang war between Sal Maroni and The Russian.”Field Test” begins with Lucius Fox showing Bruce Wayne some new gadgets. Amongst them is a harness equipped with an electromagnetic pulse strong enough to deflect bullets. Batman decides to test it out with Maroni, The Russian, and his goons. Everything is going Batman’s way until a certain…glitch…happens.”In Darkness Dwells” has everyone looking for a monster. Killer Croc, to be exact. Apparently, he was the former patient of a certain Johnathan Crane. Coincidentally, one of the reasons he was admitted to Dr. Crane was for his fear of bats. Go figure.Batman is injured on what seems like any other night he puts on his mask in “Working Through Pain.” We’re basically shown how tenacious he really is as he struggles with his injuries. We’re also shown a few flashbacks of his past and soon learn the difference between exterior and interior pain. There’s a way to put pain in its place and this is how Bruce Wayne found out how.”Deadshot” has come back to Gotham and has set his sights on Jim Gordon, but it looks like he has ulterior motives. Bruce Wayne also gives his views on guns.Gotham Knight is superb. There’s really no other way to describe it. I had my doubts about it, but I think those were blown away during the first few minutes of the film. The animation is fantastic. Everything moves crisply and smoothly. It just seems to flow. And let me just say that it’s amazing to hear Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman again. It’s like a homecoming in so many ways.The biggest question you may be asking yourself is how can all the stories actually flow together since they’re all done by different artists. The truth is that other than the artistic style changing, you don’t really notice anything. The voice cast stays the same throughout the entire film and while each individual story has its own story to tell, they’re all connected in some way and flow together nicely.Gotham Knight is a feature that shouldn’t be missed by anybody. Whether you’re an anime fan, a Batman fan, or you’re just looking for something new to catch your eye, I’d recommend Gotham Knight to anyone and everyone. The animation is beautiful and has a real crisp flow to it while the stories are written incredibly well and will keep you interested. The voice cast is also something worth mentioning. Other than seeing Kevin Conroy come back as Batman, the rest of the cast does a great job as well. My one complaint is that it doesn’t really bridge the gap between anything. However, it doesn’t really seem to bridge the gap between anything and is just an excellent stand alone animated feature.

Buy it for the extras

DC’s recent spate of direct-to-DVD videos have been somewhat of a mixed bag. I didn’t care for Superman – Doomsday (DC Universe Animated Original Movie), but I was very impressed by Justice League – The New Frontier (Two-Disc Special Edition) and greatly recommend it.Sadly, this film isn’t nearly as good as “…New Frontier”, and only slightly better than “Superman – Doomsday”.The idea behind this movie, aside from milking out a few bucks before the release of “The Dark Knight” (can’t wait to see it tomorrow!), is to do what the people behind The Animatrix did; get some respected Japanese animation studios and have them make some shorts based on the movie(s).In principle this isn’t a bad idea, and for something like The Matrix series, which so clearly draws inspiration from anime, it might work very well. It works less well, however, for a universe like the one shown in Batman Begins (Two-Disc Special Edition), which is much more grounded in as much reality as any super-hero film can be.The animation in the movie is decent, but nothing to write home about (of course I’m not some big-time otaku, so take that for what it’s worth). The storylines are ok. One where Batman gets a device that keeps him safe from bullets works out ok, as does the one with Killer Croc, but overall none of the stories are that great.There are some good things, though. It’s always great to hear Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne. He really nails it and does a great job with both characters. All the rest of the voice-acting is quite good, too.But where this set really shines is in the extras. There’s a great biography of Bob Kane (and people like me will get a real big laugh out of the “News On Parade” feature at the begining). My favorite extra, however, is the four episodes of the animated Batman series, which includes two of my favorite episodes from the show.Ultimately I give really only one, maybe two, stars for the movie itself, but with those extras the set gets a boost up to three stars! Still not great, but at least I don’t feel ripped-off by it.

To be frank I only liked the second half of the film. The first half constists of nothing but the view of Batman through the eyes of various civilians, and Batman beating up goons.The second half or the last two stories are far more enjoyable. Working Through Pain was written by one of my favourite comic book writers Brian Azarello (100 Bullets), and he did a good job in annunciating that Bruce really doesn’t want to work through the pain of his parents death. He wants to hold on to that pain because it gives him purpose and it drives him. And really if he were to give up that pain–he probably would find his life devoid and meaningless and purposeless. The Deadshot story, I liked because it shows the kind of Alpha male hero who is willing to stand down any threat (yet not a goon) warrior I like to see him portrayed as.

Trailer promised a different movie

I see a lot of reviews that aren’t positive and mention that this movie isn’t funny. I think it might be because Hollywood decided to market this movie as something it wasn’t. It’s not a romantic comedy. It is, however, a very good movie about people who aren’t 25 or even 35, and how they realize they don’t have to be stuck in a situation that isn’t good, just because of their age. Tom Hanks does a great job as “Lance” and Julia Roberts and he have real chemistry on screen. This movie has no explosions, no fast cars, no half-naked women. What it does have is good acting and an interesting and entertaining story. Above all, it demonstrates that no matter your age, we are all still trying to figure life out.

“I was downsized, I’m here to make sure that never happens again.” After thinking he will receive his 9th employee of the month award, Larry (Hanks) is fired because he never went to college. After talking to his neighbor he decides to enroll and change his life. Going in I was thinking, Tom Hanks is in this…this will be good. After watching it I have to say it was even better then I expected it to be. Besides the obvious great acting watching a 50 year old man start his life over is pretty inspiring to watch. This is not an Oscar worthy movie, but this is the type of movie you can watch over and over again. Every now and then I really like watching the light hearted type movies that are just fun and stress free to watch. This is a perfect example of that. Overall, a must see movie that will leave you feeling good after you are done. I give it an A.*Also try – Eat, Pray, Love & Everything Must Go

Larry Crowne `with an E’ (Tom Hanks) is dropped from employment at UMart even with his stellar record including 8 employee-of-the-months. He’s at midlife, 20 year Navy vet, but has to college degree. No future at UMart. Out!Wilma (Rita Wilson, Hank’s real wife) from the bank loan desk suggests life changes due to finances. College classes are the obvious answer and Larry enrolls into a Speech 217 class with Ms Mercades `Mercy’ Teinot (Julia Roberts) his teacher. “‘Tai-no’ not `Tai-NO’” instructs the sour teacher a bit grumpy from living with a porn fanatic. Don’t expect a sudden romance on this scene.An unexpected flirtatious delight is student Talia (Gugu Mbatha-Raw -also HOT in `Bonekickers’) who takes Larry under her wing and gets him involved in a scooter gang. This takes form of some Gump-like events. The speech class is quite a mix of 9 other quirky characters including Natalie (Grace Gummer, Meryl Streep’s daughter-you can’t miss that face).Mercy is called “washboard” by her boob-loving spouse, soon to be discarded. Later viewed in a low-cut dress, Mercy proves she’s not flat–she’s a Pretty Woman. That leaves a romance available, right? Not so fast.If you were expecting lots of bed scenes, skin, and raucous behavior, you will be disappointed. This will not be a 5-star movie for the under-40s. Older adults, mid-life through Boomers like a romance that has some intellect mixed with emotion, and from that perspective, this romantic comedy works. After all the economy has everyone relating to job loss, low income, loosing a home, reentry into a new job, and here we have a fun, but truthful picture of that struggle in life.Theatre ticket price plus gas and popcorn, may have been a bit costly, but the value comes in the DVD version now that it’s available. And of course quite fun for Hanks and Roberts fans.Try an added reminisctic romp through Mystic Pizza (1988), best viewed in a hotel room in Mystic, Connecticut–love that Roberts.

Exercise is good for you

It earned two stars for the beautiful travelogue of Greece as the lady doctor spent a lovely long vacation there and found her arthritis getting better.We learn daily walking, the Mediteranean diet, daily metitation and beautiful views are all healing and good for you.This is presented as new information and for some people maybe it is, if they have been living in a cave. We learn stress is bad.I couldn’t bring myself to watch the last ten minutes it was so dull anduninformative. We see the lady doctor getting her brain tested as she smells good smells and views pretty pictures to see how it lights up in the pleasure regions. We learn our brains get healthier with daily exercise from examining the brains of rats who have been given a wheel to run on in their cages.Don’t bother with this one.

If you did not know the affects of your attitude on you body’s health this is worth while reading. Attitude is everything. Dr Sternberg did a remarkable journey to prove its value in her life. It works for me.

I bought this for a friend, a young man who is dealing with serious kidney disease. He has been trained in acupuncture and observes healthy diet, etc. Although Dr. Sternberg’s experience with improving her inflammatory conditions via positive environmental stimuli and good diet is inspiring, I don’t think the remedy applies to my friend’s very serious disease. He is probably already doing all the things Dr. S recommends, but all that will help him is a transplant. I didn’t give the CD to him, as I thought is would just be suggesting that “if you handled your disease better, you wouldn’t be so sick.” And, that wouldn’t make him feel any better.

If you’ve read the last 14 reviews, you already know the premise and story of the show. Here’s what you won’t read from anyone else: Under this show’s veneer of blue collar humor lies a deeply spiritual and optimistic journey. The show is comedy in the classical sense–characters in a low place are raised up in the end by a series of events–but it is mainly about repentence, restitution and redemption. Earl decides to change his life for the better and stops doing the bad things he did before (repentence), he goes about seeking forgiveness from the people he has wronged and tries to restore what he has taken from them (restitution) and in the end he and the wronged people are better off for it (redemption). I believe the writers chose well in using the concept of instant karma as the vehicle–the driving force Earl has faith in–because that is a universal concept that all religions can identify and respect. Also, I love how intelligently subtle the change in Earl is portrayed. In every episode you will see a flashback of the “before” Earl along with “new” Earl; notice that there is no difference in clothing or hairstyle from before and after. The change is in his heart and behavior only, where it matters. TV writers usually smack you over the head with visual cues.Anyone who has strived for spiritual improvement can readily identify with Earl. There are some aspects of that path that are easy and immediately rewarding, but that’s not always true. Sometimes you have to suffer the misunderstanding, mocking or rejection of your friends and/or relatives or difficult, unforgiving souls. Later epsiodes have their difficult moments and Earl has to hold tight to his faith to get through it. The most significant of such situations is in the episode “Number One”, when Earl gives all his money to the man who was supposed to win it. He ends up losing everything except his faith, hungry and homeless, but is finally restored. Lynard Skynard’s “Simple Man” was the perfect music for that scene.I am very happy to see this show put on DVD because NBC edited bits and pieces out when they reran the episodes to make more time for commercials. Some of those bits are important to comedic timing and storyline flow. I highly recommend you get this collection and try to view the episodes through its spiritual prism.

I didn’t watch this show until I found it on DVD, but I was hooked from the first episode. I watched all episodes from Season 1 in a few day; this is a pretty good show. The show has a pretty clever concept–a small time crook named Earl (Jason Lee) is almost killed after he wins $100,000 from an instant lottery ticket. He believes that Karma is punishing him for all the bad things he’s done. Therefore, he makes a list of all the people he has wronged in his life and tries to make it up to them one-by-one (or one episode at a time).The show has great writing and a very good ensemble cast–highlighted by Jaime Pressly’s dead-on performance as Earl’s ex-wife. What makes the show really great is that it doesn’t make fun of it characters. My Name is Earl could get many easy jokes out of the subject matter–lower class, uneducated rural folk–but instead it develops the characters. And the actors play it straight–they never wink at the camera; therefore, they form well-founded characters and not just chariactures.The show features several recognizable faces in cameos including Dax Shepard, Giovanni Ribisi (hilarious in 2 episodes), Missi Pyle, Timothy Stack, Johnny Galecki, Beau Bridges, Jon Favreau, Adam Goldberg, Samm Levine, Christine Taylor, Malcolm David Kelley, Juliette Lewis, Clint Howard, Mike O’Malley, Max Perlich, and Lin Shaye. The DVD also includes delete scenes, which are better than the deleted scenes you usually find on a DVD.

The premise of this show is one that you won’t find in a lot of other places/shows/movies/books, etc. Imagine a character actually concerned with undoing his past wrongs to others (but then again, he’s also worried about his karma). I mean, in one episode, Earl even wants to pay his TAXES!!! What sane person wants to do that? He believes he owes the gov’t a certain amount, and when they don’t take his money, he tries pay them back by picking up trash with prisoners (and gets taken to prison), finally breaking the law by getting stuck in a water tower with Randy. The police have to rescue them, which costs a lot in fines and rescue work – but Earl can relax now that they’re “even.”One of my favorite episodes is when Earl tried to give Joy a better wedding to make up for the first (“Ruined Joy’s Wedding” on his list). Darnell aka “Crab Man” has to go to the park to reserve the shady spot, Joy and Crab Man are registered at the liquor store (not a bad idea though), and the cake is made of Twinkies, other Tastykake desserts like cupcakes, and donuts too, I think. Also liked “Stole a Police Badge” (Earl and Randy got away with Everything, along with getting free food) and “Stole Beer from a Golfer.” In the golf one, Earl and Randy fixed games to get free beer at the country club (the high scorer would buy everyone beer when he won). With that incentive, the brothers ran around the golf course to put the ball right in the hole, hiding in the shrubbery before the golfer had walked over.Jason Lee is an intelligent actor – his mannerisms and accents seem authentic to his environment. While I’ll always remember Ethan Supplee (Randy) as that bully who hung out with some other thugs in the hallway (by the payphone) on “Boy Meets World,” now I think of him more as the dim-witted Randy. It’s such a stronger role, of course.Ever since the departure of “Roseanne,” “Drew Carey,” and a tiny number of similar shows, there’s been very few shows about the working class (and/or rednecks, as in the case of “Earl”). Thank God for “My Name is Earl.” After all, we need diversity on tv. People can get sick of the upper class yuppie shows, where the gorgeous characters never work and are only concerned with getting a date.

A horrid sequel

Jo is a transfer student who just wants a quiet school year before she’s off to study architecture at Carnegie-Mellon University. She befriends rich but klutzy Abby, a target for the cliquy “plastics” led by chief mean girl Mandi. In a twist Abby’s father pays Jo to befriend her, and Jo realizes that her new BFF is worth more than the cash. Soon a war between the plastics and well everyone else at the school breaks out. Will Jo come clean with Abby before her secret is revealed?With a d-list cast, bad writing, lots of overacting (never a good thing), and no real story to tell, this sequel is pretty awful. I still cannot believe that I sat through it, particularly when it was paired with the far superior original. Some sequels should just never get made.

Ditto everything reviewer Tracy Vest wrote. My sentiments exactly. I couldn’t make it through the entire movie without doing something in addition to watching the movie to distract me from its awfulness. So, though the movie was terrible, my dishes and laundry are now done.And: The only good thing about this movie is that it made me want to watch Mean Girls, the good one, not this poor (even for ABC Family) imitation.

After Mean Girls was such a hit a few years before, audiences would expect that a sequel should live up to what it’s predacessor promised. However, this was not the case with this movie. A semi innocent outsider comes into a new high school wanting to have a year free of drama before she finishes her last year before heading off to Carnegie Mellon. She’s a tough girl, so she seems, not caring what others think and has her quirky interests (shop class) where she doesn’t have to contend with other women/girls for attentions. And then she meets a loveable gal named Abby who is clumbsy and awkward, and oddly enough, from a wealthy family. Her father eventually pays Jo (our hero) to be Abby’s friend. Then the Mean Girls clique, headed by the slightly dimwitted Mandy, is out to get her. Jo and her friends then form their own clique, calling themselves the Anti-Plastics, in an effort to usurp the Plastics powers and control.The story itself had some potential, but it was ruined by fair acting and not being very strong a plot to begin with. The message in this movie (as well as it’s predacessor) is that power corrupts. I only got it because it came in a two pack purchase with Mean Girls 1. Otherwise how else would people see this?

I just recently found out about this show and was hooked from the first minute of episode one in season one. The cast are hilarious and easy on the eyes and the chemistry between them seems natural. This show reminds me of Grey’s Anatomy, which I’m a HUGE fan of, and I wish it ran more episodes. It isn’t too gory and serious, with its humor and romance, but you can still say its a cop show. It has both personal drama as well as occupational drama. I hope it never ends! This and Grey’s Anatomy are the only shows I would watch more than once. Hurry Season three

This series is not your average “cop” show…it focuses on the experiences of the Rookie Cop, amazing story lines which are hardly ever predictable. All the characters have their own story, and are very well defined..its a mixture of drama, comedy, romance..season 1 was awesome, season two was incredible and season 3 I can’t wait!!! And I hope it features more “Sandy” romance!!!

I greatly enjoy watching Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations series. Though I do not get to travel internationally, I am allowed to live vicariously through his adventures, learning more about different cultures through their food while drooling over (most) of what Tony gets to go eat. The show strikes a good balance between exploring the food and talking about the culture in which the food evolved. Tony’s generally an entertaining narrator and sometimes runs with some interesting personalities in the location he’s visiting.The only negative aspect of the show is that watching it frequently makes me hungry and sad that I am not capable of cooking the food I am seeing. It also makes me want to buy expensive copper or earthenware cooking containers and go build a wood-fired stove in the backyard.

I remember “The Sword in the Stone” as a widescreen movie, so I was dismayed to find that Disney had released this animated favorite to DVD in a cropped/pan-and-scan format. However, on further investigation, I discovered that, to my surprise, “The Sword in the Stone” was not a widescreen motion picture… at least not originally. Apparently, like “101 Dalmations” and other films of the late 1950s and early 1960s, “The Sword in the Stone” was made to be projected in one of two formats: either widescreen or full-frame, depending on the theater where it was shown. It seems that the Disney animators designed the film with a bit of ‘extra picture’ at the top and bottom of each frame; that way this ‘extra’ could be cut off without ruining the image in theaters playing it in widescreen. In other theaters, and on television, the film could be shown in a standard full-frame (1.33:1) format. So, according to Disney, the current full-frame DVD of “TSITS” is indeed the film in it’s “original format’. Admittedly, it may not be the way that most of us remember this great little movie, but it is the way the folks at Disney made it.

Sometime in the medieval ages, there is a legend about this magic stone that contains a sword and according to the legend, who so pulls out the sword from the anvil shall become king of all England. Though many tried to pull it, no miracle and the sword was forgotten for ages in an age of no laws, brutality and darkness in just which magician Merlin has trouble with the days of no kings, he then meets a young squire named “Wart” ( a.k.a. Arthur) whom is a problemic young man with a mean foster father and big foster brother, Merlin then trains Wart through education in order to become more social and on adventures that will lead him to pull the sword out of the stone.An underrated disney classic that is a delightful story with good animation for it’s time, nice songs like “Higitus Figitus” and humor makes this a definite must have for the animation DVD collector everywhere.The DVD has some great extras like two cartoons, Behind the songs with a deleted song that never made it into the film, still frame galleries, All Abou the Magic 1957 episode or “Walt Disney Presents”, Film-facts, sing-alongs and great remastering with good sound quality.

THE SWORD IN THE STONE has always been my favorite Disney animated film. Why? The answer is quite simple really. I saw it when I was a kid on its initial release in the downtown theater, I had a great time and I have very fond memories of the movie and the entire experience of going to see it with my family and friends. Isn’t that what Walt Disney had in mind? It wasn’t until years later and I had my own child that I began to realize that not many people even remembered THE SWORD IN THE STONE or knew it even existed. I was rather flabbergasted by this not to mention all the bad press this film had received as I started researching it. My most cherished copy of this film has always been on Laserdisc, but now it looks like THE SWORD IN THE STONE is finally getting some well deserved recognition. I love this film and the artwork is very reminiscent of ONE HUNDRED AND ONE DALMATIANS and the relationship between Merlin and Wart and the development of those characters is pure Walt Disney. Savor the best of times. Thanks Walt.

Being the father of a daughter, it’s very important for me to find examples of strong women in real life and in art or anything else that she can see. The original Mulan is not perfect in this respect but is surprisingly amazing in comparison to so many other films without going overboard with it (sometimes, the attempt to create strong female characters ends up causing them to be caricatures who talk about how strong they are rather than just showing it…or making them so one-dimensional that it would be impossible to relate to them). I’m very weary of sequels, especially if they are straight to video years after the original release. It always seems like Disney has run out of ideas and so they make sequels far removed from the original films or rush to retell in a strange fashion a historical figure. It’s often the case that it’s uninspired and far from entertaining. Mulan II avoided that. It’s been mentioned before, but I think it’s important to say there are some tonal changes here. It’s far more slapsticky than the original and plays to laughs more than drama. I don’t think that’s necessarily a negative. I was surprised, for example, not to be totally disappointed by the replacement of Eddie Murphy and to find the character of Mushu still very entertaining. On the other hand, I think the film’s displacement of certain dramatic aspects makes it a little more one-dimensional than its predecessor. I know this is a kids’ film and needs not overcomplicate its concepts of relationships or of duty, but I also think that Disney has in the past (and with the first film) really excelled at making films that are classics and not just genre pieces for children. This sequel certainly does not fail. It’s entertaining. The songs were a delight to my daughter. The humor was well-done and well-suited to her. I think, though, that it will suffer over time in comparison to the first film. She’s more likely to go back to it than the sequel. Does this make it a bad film? No, not at all. I would actually give it a 3.5 star rating. If not for the first film, it would probably be a 4.

The story of Mulan II begins with Mulan thinking about marrying General Shang… which upsets one of Mulan’s spirit guides (Mushu) so much that he decides to sabotage their relationship. Mushu is worried that he will be demoted if Mulan goes through with her plans to marry General Shang, because tradition calls for the wife’s spirit guides to lose their pedestals in the household shrine at the time of marriage, meaning that they would then be subordinated to the husband’s ancestors. The story moves back to Mulan and Shang, who are asked by the Emperor to provide safe passage for the Emperor’s three daughters across China, so that they can be married to three princes in order to bring peace to China. Mulan and Shang travel with three trusted soldiers, who fall in love with the princesses in their care… as Mushu begins his plans to break Mulan and Shang up. Mulan II is full of jokes, songs, and an important message about following your heart. My favorite part of the film was one of the opening scenes, in which Mulan describes the importance of yin and yang in a beautiful song and dance number. This is a fun family movie, with interesting special features, too.

Have you noticed that sequels, for the most part (Toy Story 2 is an exception) just don’t feel the same as the original? The music is different, the animation is different, something. You just can’t quite put your finger on it; the movie bothers you somehow.This movie does that. The story and characters were OK, but the plot could have been carried out so much better! Mushu was being selfish, although I admit the scenes when he tried to get Mulan and Shang apart made me laugh. And while the whole “duty to your heart” thing gets most people mad about this movie, I think it just wasn’t done right. What I’m saying is, the movie has a decent plot but it was carried out weakly. Yeah, that’s the word that describes this movie: weak.The beginning song is just bad. I agree with the person who said they felt the scene with Mulan teaching the girls to fight was uncomfortable. It was poorly done. As with most aspects of this film, it coul’ve been better. The song “lesson nuber one” or whatever is terrible; I was almost to the point of cringing. The “other” “Girl We’re Fighting For” was OK. Not as good as the one in the original, but really, what can you expect? Not much. I don’t think many people ahve high expectations foor sequels anymore. At least, I don’t.The scenes between the princesses and warriors are funny, but too cute and quick. It could’ve been better. Wait, didn’t I just say that?At the end how Mushu retends to be the golden dragon or whatever is funny, but it bothers me. I mean, that’s how the problem was resolved? It would be okay if they had it once in the movie and the resolution was different, but Mulan, Shang, Mushu and the princesses got what they wanted by tricking a whole country. If the country were to find out the truth, all the protagonists would be in some serious trouble and that’s an understatement. (If you’re confused, you probably haven’t seen the movie).I also agree with the person who said mixing modern stuff into the story was bad. It is OK for kids, but it’s just too cheesy for adults.Like I said, the movie could have been better. It does NOT “capture the majic of the original” (as the back says); the tone is completely different.However, I must say that the scene when Shang falls into the river is done really well. It will either send chills down your spine or make you shed a few tears. I was not expecting that to be done well. The princesses’ song was the best song in the whole movie. Oh, and the princesses themselves were all right characters. I like Ting-Ting the best; she seems serious but inside she’s a joker. Her and Ling go great together. The other two couples go great together, too. And while Mushu’s plans were practically evil, I have to admit they were funny.And speaking of Mushu, I personally didn’t find Mushu that bad, just a little naughty. He was really selfish at first about his precious pedestal, but he eventually found out that if Mulan wasn’t happy, then neither was he. However, I think that he shoudn’t have gotten his pedestal back. I think it sends the wrong message; that you will eventually get what you want even if you do really evil things or something. Or maybe he shouldn’t have gotten it back the way he did in the movie.Anyway, just like almost evryting else, it could’ve been done much better.To sum it up, the movie was poorly done. I don’t even think Disney even tried to make it good. It could have been done better. I know I’ve said that a thousand times, but it’s true.Kids will like this movie because I can grudgingly admit it’s funny, but adults will probably find it poorly done. Some aspects send the wrong message to kids, like what I already said about Mushu and his epdestal. The “duty to your heart” is a great theme, but I think it was represented falsely.I own the movie. I suggest you rent it if you really want to see it. The back cover is wrong. It is not a “movie you want to see again and again”.
