Blatant Display of the Hypocracy of Amazon review auditor

Recounts Imperialist American aggression and the role it played in the destruction of two small countries trying to make a better life for their people by attempting to conquer the world and subject “inferior” races to extermination and slavery…It figures! this just shows the Anti-American bias of some dimwit POS Amazon Thought Police review auditor! I originally wrote a glowing review of how the Documentary showed an unprepared America against the AXIS of Evil and exemplified the unspeakable Japanese brutality toward everyone else and that review the Amazon Thought Police blew off and totally rejected… BUT just mention America & aggression and the POS ATP auditor is all over allowing that! I would love to spit some beach-nut in that boys eye and say a few earnest words to exemplify my displeasure at his warped PC view of the world (POS puke is probably some 20 something that never heard of WWII) and apply an exceedingly generous attitude adjustment for his betterment…This edited quote from Dostoyevsky gives an apt description of the him/her/it ATP.”He is one of that countless and multifarious legion of vulgar persons, sickly abortions and half-educated petty tyrants who like a flash attach themselves to the current PC ideas that are most fashionable in order, again like a flash,to vulgarize them, caricaturing the very warped PC cause they seek to serve, sometimes with great genuineness.”

Informative in several ways

The first four episodes of Victory at Sea are now a part of history as much as a summary of it. To me, they’re very interesting to watch for both how they present the history of WW2 and (somewhat less) as a source of real information.Start with historical accuracy. A huge amount of information is compressed into a what’s basically a short feature length movie, so a lot of detail ends up somewhat distorted. Still, the outline is generally consistent what has come down over decades.For example, the description of the Battle of Midway was probably inspiring in 1952, but falls short of reality as shown by documents that have been unearthed in following years. The narrator doesn’t say (for security reasons, not released then?) the US cryptography people read a noticeable fraction of the Japanese battle plan and deeply affected Nimitz’s fielding a force in the first place. That misses a huge point about why the whole thing happened the way it did. But, yes, the battle marked a turning point in who was on offense and who on defense in the Pacific.Though the detail at times falls short, the original footage of figures like Roosevelt, the bombing of London and Pearl Harbor, and submarines in the Atlantic is very moving. (It’s certainly a lot more compelling than the spliced-in Godzilla-like special effects that separate glimpses of the real goods.)And, as others have noted, the Rodgers score is an outstanding example of how a movie sound track can add to the feel of the whole. If only that happened more often today…
